Nicholson's Point Woods Nature Reserve
Moe and Janice Johnson donated Nicholson's Point Woods to RWLT in 2008. When the property was zoned for development and put up for sale, the Johnsons, long-time residents in the area, felt the property should be preserved in its natural state. They decided to purchase the property and donate it to RWLT so the property could be preserved and protected for generations to come.
The property supports a mature deciduous forest of Sugar Maple, Oak and Hickory hardwood trees, as well as a grove of cedar trees along its eastern boundary. It provides habitat for many mammals and birds including the Cerulean Warbler and Wood Thrush. In the early spring the woodland is carpeted with Trilliums, something the neighbouring property owners take great pride in.
