MacDonald's Wetland Nature Reserve
MacDonald's Island Cottage Association donated MacDonald's Wetland to RWLT in 2005. MacDonald's Wetland is part of the Big Rideau Lake Wetland Complex and a provincial fish sanctuary, which plays an important role in sustaining the fish populations in our lakes.
The property consists of 3000 feet of undisturbed shoreline and woodlands consisting of Sugar Maple, American Beech and Eastern Hemlock. The property is home to the Great Horned Owl, Red-Shouldered Hawk and hundreds of Red-winged Blackbirds during the summer.
