Get Involved
Get to know RWLT at one of our upcoming community events!
We periodically host a variety of community events throughout the year, from guided hikes in partnership with local libraries to hands-on work parties and occasional special fundraisers. These events are a great way to meet our team, see firsthand the work we do, and get involved in caring for the land. Check back often—there are always new opportunities to connect with nature and help support land stewardship in our community!

Moths, Bats & Moonlight: An Evening with Mark Read
Join Rideau Waterway Land Trust and special guest Mark Read for an evening of discovery at James H. Fullard Nature Reserve near Elgin. Together, we’ll explore the fascinating world of night-time wildlife and identify some of the nocturnal flyers that call the reserve home.
The event officially runs from 9:00 PM to 11:00 PM, but Mark will be on site beginning at 8:30 PM with a bat detector for anyone interested in arriving early. Once darkness falls, the focus will shift to attracting moths using a UV light setup located close to the parking area.
Please bring a flashlight, water, and a camera if you have one — along with your curiosity and enthusiasm!
A camp chair may also be useful. Please note that there are no toilet facilities on site. Ticks are present at the reserve, and bug spray is encouraged for personal protection.
Registration is strongly encouraged so participants can be notified in the event of cancellation due to poor weather. You can register by purchasing a FREE ticket at the link below. All ages are welcome!
